CHILDREN'S HOME
The Children’s Home, located on the campus of the Mission Center in Saintard, was started in November 1992. Pastor Jean Marie Louis Jean, a local pastor, had been given the responsibility to take care of ten orphaned children. Taking $100.00 US dollars that had been given to his congregation he began to purchase materials to build a home for these children. He prayed that God would bless the efforts and that mighty man and women of God might be raised in the home. After learning of the need Mission Haiti, Inc. decided to take on the responsibility of building the Children’s Home. In just five days in April 1993 a 14 person crew from MHI completed an 1800 square foot home for the children.
In the years since the number of children living in the home has grown to over 50. These children currently range in age from 18 months to 16 years old. Due to the outstanding reputation that Miss Phyllis has within the Saintard community and across Haiti she is subject to have a new orphaned child brought to her at any time.
Along with the building construction, Mission Haiti, Inc. has taken on the responsibility of helping to provide finances for the operation of the home. Expenses of running the home include food, clothing, medical care and Christian education for the children; salaries and housing for the caretakers; and general expenses involved in completion of the buildings, maintenance and normal operating costs.
